Skunk Cabbage

Dappled sunlight and bird song.

Scents of cedar, pine and salmon berry.

Soft deep brown of ground beneath

trees with silent stories to tell.

Oh! Green and yellow!

Your odious hello

startled me from my forest revery.

Come to greet the bears, have you?

Humble swamp lantern.

I have to talk about this one a little bit. I chose to go with the prompt of the tritina form. I was daunted by this as I've never tried it before. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been quite daunted by this whole month so far, to the point now of starting to feel panicky. So, I took a deep breath and just sat down with it. I thought, how do I even begin? Hmmm, well, perhaps with a really nice sentence. So, I used the little poem I wrote on day 5 as my final line and worked backwards from there. Thanks NaPoWriMo prompt for putting the fun back in it. This was the most fun I've had so far and I'm quite pleased with the result. I hope you like it too!

NaPoWriMo Day 7 Prompt – (form) Tritina

Let us dance in the rain,

drops on skin, a sky kiss.

My summer dress patterned with flowers.

Summer breeze sways garden flowers.

Blossom bowls reach to catch the rain.

Between us, the shadow of a kiss.

Warm and wet and soft and sweet, a kiss.

Soft and sweet as flowers.

Warm and wet as summer rain.

If I kiss you in the rain will our love bloom like flowers?
