I Have Come to Listen

I hunger

Feed me your words

Sweet ones

Sour ones

Bitter and salty ones

Let me chew on their meanings

Savour their sounds

Swallow them down

to my empty gut

Fill me up with enunciation

I will bite on the assonance and

lick the alliteration from my lips

Words

a meal for the mind

An incantation for satiation

Just deserts for a starving heart
